Biography

Doug Worndl specializes in class actions and aviation litigation at Rochon Genova. Since 2018 he has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law teaching securities litigation. He frequently lectures at Osgoode Hall Law School and professional conferences on securities enforcement and investor protection. His significant recoveries include CIBC ($125M, 2022), SNC-Lavalin ($110M, 2018), Aphria Inc. ($30M, 2025), and Home Capital Group ($29.5M, 2017). He has appeared before all Ontario courts, superior courts in Quebec and Alberta, British Columbia’s Supreme Court, Canada’s Supreme Court, and private arbitrations.

Before Rochon Genova, Doug served as Counsel and Director of Research to the Federal Commission of Inquiry into the Air Ontario Crash at Dryden, Ontario (1989–1991). After 160+ hearing days, the Commission issued a 3-volume report catalyzing substantial aviation safety improvements. Doug represented approximately 235 family members of 76 passengers killed in Ukraine International Airlines Flight UIA PS752 (January 8, 2020, Tehran).
